Tired from the turkey?

Does eating turkey make you tired? Turkey does contain tryptophan and is an amino acid and is used to make serotonin. Serotonin makes you feel calm, and makes you feel good! Unfortunately there is NOT enough tryptophan in the turkey to make you tired. Actually, cheese and chicken breast has more tryptophan than turkey! Then why are you sleepy? It is probably the stress of the holidays or all the fat and calories you just consumed!

Why did we use water in the microscope lab?

You can put some samples directly under the microscope. However, many samples look better when placed in a drop of water on the microscope slide. This is known as a "wet mount." The water helps support the sample and it fills the space between the cover slip and the slide allowing light to pass easily through the slide, the sample, and the cover slip.

CHANGE OF PLANS!

Since Chapter 2 is a long chapter we are going to split up the test into two sections. Section 1 - chemistry of life and the amazing properties of water test will be on Monday Nov 1st. We do not have school Tuesday the 2nd! Section 2 - Biochemistry and Enzymes will be on Wednesday Nov 3rd! Make sure you have all the notes!
